Fresh Custom Firmware Installation
In order to install the latest supported custom firmware, please ensure that you are running on the latest Official Firmware (OFW), version 6.61.
If you already have a Custom Firmware (CFW) installed (ARK4, ME, PRO, or other alternatives), please use the “Downgrader” to reflash your PSP to the latest Official Firmware.

Note: Some sites listed below are hosted via http protocol due to lack of TLS / SSL support on native PSP.
Step 1: Configure Baseline Firmware
PSP 3000
Before beginning, ensure that you have your device plugged into power, or that your battery has at least 50% power.
Turn on your PSP and access the following site from your PSP’s built-in Internet Browser:

OFW Users:
Update to Official 6.61 if not already on firmware:
- On website, select “Firmware PSP” or “Firmware PSP Go” depending on your model and save to your PSP.
- Navigate to Game > Memory Stick (or Internal Memory on PSP Go).
- Launch PSP™ Update ver 6.61 to update to the latest official firmware.
CFW Users:
Once downloaded If you already are running a CFW (Ark, PRO, ME, or other alternative), make sure you go through the downgrade process to reflash back to official 6.61:
- On website, select “Firmware PSP” or “Firmware PSP Go” depending on your model and save to your PSP.
- On website, select “Downgrader” and save to your PSP.
- Navigate to Game > Memory Stick (or Internal Memory on PSP Go).
- Run Chronoswitch downgrader and follow the instructions on the screen.
Step 2: Install Custom Firmware
Now that you are running Official Firmware 6.61, access the following site from your PSP’s built-in Internet Browser:
PSP Street

The graphic on this site walks you through the process:
- On website, select “Download” to save the CFW to your PSP.
- Navigate to Game > Memory Stick (or Internal Memory on PSP Go).
- Run the ARK-4 Installer application. This will extract and move files around as needed.
- Run the ARK-4 Loader Application that was extracted on the previous step. This will give you temporary Custom Firmware (HEn aka Homebrew Enabled). If you fully reboot your device before installing cIPL, then you will need to rerun ARK-4 Loader application to re-enable the temporary Custom Firmware.
- Run the cIPL Flasher Application to permanently enable Custom Firmware on your PSP.
- Check for and install any available updates for ARK-4 via Settings > ARK-4 Updater menu option.
Step 3: Install Homebrew
PSP Go
Now that you are running ARK4 Custom Firmware, access the following site from your PSP’s built-in Internet Browser:

This site will allow you to download and install various homebrew options that are available for download directly from the site to your PSP. To add a shortcut to your device, follow the below steps:
- Select the PSP icon in the “Installable Channel for Sony PSP” section of the website. This will allow you to download an “Internet Radio” station which will quickly allow you to access the site from the PSP menu.
